Our Vision

To foster a thriving and inclusive cricket club within Derby where members of all ages and abilities can enjoy recreational cricket, develop their skills, and experience.

Administrative Excellence & Sustainability

Objective: Ensuring the club runs efficiently, transparently, and is financially secure

Key Areas: Club governance & compliance, Audit, financial management, volunteer engagement, facility/asset management

Player & Team Development

Objective: Nurturing talent, improving performance across all teams, and providing opportunities for growth.

Key Areas: Player assessment, Easy access to good coaching, a strong junior section, steady senior team improvement, and regular opportunities to build skills, League coordinator

Membership Experience & Community Engagement

Objectives: Keeping all members satisfied, attracting new ones, and strengthening our ties with the local community

Key Areas: Member retention, recruitment, social events, communication, and community outreach.

Objective: Maintaining and enhancing our physical assets to provide the best possible environment for cricket and social activities

Key Areas: Pitch quality, clubhouse facilities, training nets, Equipment's and future development projects

  • Delegation & Empowerment – Leaders shouldn’t try to do everything themselves. Ability to effectively delegate tasks and empower committee members and volunteers to take ownership is crucial
  • Volunteers Motivation & Appreciation – Volunteers are the life blood. Leaders must be adept at motivating and inspiring volunteers, recognizing their contributions, creating environment where their efforts feel valued and make a tangible difference. (Volunteers are different to executive leaders, Volunteers help with all activities supporting leaders and would also naturally assume leadership roles when required)
  • Relationship Building & Networking – Leaders should actively build and maintain positive relationships with key stake holders, Sponsor, and other cricketing clubs / affiliates. Strong network can open doors for funding, development opportunities and broader community engagement.

  1. Stable & Compliant Club – (DCF & ECB Compliant) Cricket Club. VCC Operating Policy and Procedure, Audits
  2. Well-managed club with clear roles and full Derbyshire County Cricket compliance – VCC to establish executives, Roles & Responsibilities – Recruitment and Management of Executives aligned to long term vision.
  3. Financial Sustainability: Compliance, Audit, Net Cash Positive to self sustain
  4. Digital Operations (Effective) – All key activities/admin works to be automated/digitized for efficient working.
  5. Volunteer Growth: Increased active volunteer participation (increase participation with support activities such as grounds work, match management, trainings coordination and league management)
  6. Facility Compliance – Risk Assessments & Compliance Audits

  1. Establish DCCL Saturday Men’s 1st & 2nd Team – Div 7 and Div 9 – Core Team Development
  2. Continue and sustain VCCL Sunday Men's Team – Legacy Leagues Coordinator
  3. Establish skills growth and development plan for each team (Teams Objective & Skills Development)
  4. Women’s & Girls Cricket – Foundation programme
  5. Junior Cricket Team: Establish juniors cricket team (8 – 14 years ) to participate in DCCL league
  6. Establish DCCL Saturdays Men’s 3rd Team – Core Team Development
